In 1904 bequeathed by the artist to his widow, Mary Seton Watts (listed in G.F Watts’s Will under ‘Seventh Part’, ‘Remaining Works to be retained by the Executors’, no.78).

In 1938, by descent, Mrs Lilian Chapman, née Mackintosh (the Watts’s adopted daughter).

In 1972, by descent, to her son, Ronald Chapman.

In 1994, by descent, to his son, Peter Chapman.
